Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC has ramped up its nationwide crackdown on illegal gas connections. On Sunday, coordinated operations in Dhaka, Gazipur, Munshiganj, and Narayanganj led to the disconnection of unauthorised supplies, fines, and legal actions. In Munshiganj’s Gazaria upazila, a drive led by Executive Magistrate Md Omar Faruk dismantled illegal gas setups at three lime factories.

Officials destroyed 20 air-mix burners and 400 feet of hosepipe, preventing monthly gas theft worth Tk 391,450. Legal steps have been initiated.

In Tongi, Executive Magistrate Milton Roy’s team found two illegal booster installations during inspections at 30 homes, fining the offenders Tk 25,000.

In Dhaka’s Khilgaon area, 103 illegal double-burner connections were cut and Tk 80,000 in fines were imposed.

Bypass lines at two industrial units in Narayanganj and Savar were also removed.

Titas reports 50,081 illegal connections severed since September 2024 and promises intensified enforcement ahead.
