Any plan is only as good as the time frame within which it is executed. In case of the mega projects around the country, there has been a constant battle against time to keep the projects on schedule. Recent developments from Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina portray the fact that she wants timely execution of the projects so that the train of development can gain more steam.

On the other hand, she has also strictly mentioned the fact that any intentional hindrances towards implementing these projects will be dealt with seriously. In this regard, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is firm about upholding the Bengali spirit of independence and realise the Father of the Nation’s dream of a ‘Sonar Bangla’ by doing politics for the people.

Mega projects once completed will bring

about massive infrastructural and

 economic uplift for the country

At present there are a number of mega projects going on which will boost up the national economy once completed whether by bringing in trade or through bringing in foreign investors into the country to open up new avenues in the international arena. This is being driven through a number of projects in the country namely, Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, 1320-megawatt coal-fired power station at Rampal, Metro Rail, LNG Terminal and Payra Deep Sea Port. So, it is evident that such mega projects, once completed, will bring about massive infrastructural and economic uplift for the country. Thus, it is imperative for those concerned with these mega projects and structures should try to complete these as soon as possible.

On another note, there are talks that the illegal casino giant GK Shamim had a company which has been a part of implementing a number of these projects. No doubt that due to the probable reason of tender rigging, however, it is in the minds of the people as to the speed and quality of work which a tainted company such as GK Shamim’s can perform. In that respect, the Prime Minister has already given out directives to rub out any irregularities and also the project directors to be accountable regarding

the speed and quality of work in implementing  these projects.
