The government has extended time for providing personal information about students studying in all government primary schools to receive installment of stipend money.

Due to various complications in uploading information to the database server, it has been decided to extend the time by another 10 days, according to officials.

Instruction has been given in this regard from the stipend scheme for primary education. Instructions have been sent to all the divisional education offices and district offices of the country, officials said.

It is learned that the information for receiving stipend money for the beneficiaries of the 1st and 2nd installments previously scheduled to be given from July to December 2020 has been extended from March 15 to March 25 for uploading on the 'NAGAD' portal. At this time the NAGAD portal will be opened. This period will not be extended again.

According to project sources, during the disbursement of the stipend for the 4th installment (April-June  2020) of the 2019-2020 financial year, the information of the beneficiaries was entered in the first step, and the demand letter in the second step.

It has taken a long time to work in two stages. For this, from now on, the beneficiaries will have to enter the information from the educational institution with the demand at once.

Sources said that the last day for providing the third phase of information was on January 25. Even then, those who were left behind have been given this opportunity to be brought under the stipend.

Contacted in this regard, the project director Yusuf Ali told Bangladesh Post that the distribution of arrears of the second installment of last year was completed last month. Those who have errors in their information have not been paid this installment. However, if they update the information, they will get the next installment.

He further said that everyone must provide full information to avail the stipend money.

Yusuf Ali also said “School teachers will be allowed to upload new information from March 15 to 25 this month. If the student's information is uploaded within the stipulated time, they will get the stipend money later.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that the data entry work is progressing at a snail's pace due to problems with the NAGAD server, slow internet in the rural area, lack of mother's national identity card, and inability to find the students and parents at the given address.
