Shakib’s absence frustrates Papon

Bangladesh cricket team’s official World Cup jersey has been unveiled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan handed the jersey to captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at noon. After that the whole team took part in a photo session.

Meanwhile, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon was very frustrated when asked about Shakib’s absence in team’s photo session. The ace all-rounder had just returned from his IPL stint on Sunday and he went to spend time with the team the following morning while the rest of the players were busy with their last day of practice ahead of leaving for Ireland on May 1. All the players including Shakib knew about the jersey unveiling well beforehand. “It’s very sad what can I say. It was team’s photo session. When I came in the stadium, I called Shakib and asked where he is. He said he is currently at some other place. I then asked to know that he had already been told that today was team’s photo session. The national team’s photo session was today I hoped every team member will be there, but he is not.”

The board chief also said in disgruntled voice, "I think that the other team members have been accustomed to it (in the behavior of Shakib)." What else to say? I think it's his bad luck that he was not there with our World Cup team.”

The board will not tolerate this kind of behavior over and over again said Papon. However, as the team is leaving on May 1 he was reluctant to say much about it.  “I do not want to say anything more about it. But I think it's very sad.”

Meanwhile, the newly unveiled Tigers World Cup jersey is full of color green. The lower part of the collar and jersey is dark green. The color of the trousers is also dark green. For the first time, there is an opportunity for Bangladesh cricket fans to buy the official jersey of the Bangladesh team.

Bangladesh's jersey will be sold in more than 150 outlets in the country's top brands Anjans and Gentle Park. Apart from these outlets, jerseys can also be found in online stores, such as Cricshop BD, Jersey Freak BD, Robin Sports.

National team World Cup replica jersey will cost in 1150 taka. The match jersey will be available at two and a half thousand taka.
