The Bangladesh cricket team’s preparations for the upcoming tour of Pakistan have been disrupted by the ongoing civil unrest. The national side had convened in Dhaka on Saturday following two preparatory matches, one of which was a three-day red-ball contest in Chattogram.
A strength and conditioning assessment was conducted at the Sher-i Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur prior to the start of the training camp. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been forced to cancel Sunday’s practice session due to the nationwide non-cooperation movement.
While this decision only affects Saturday’s training, the BCB will reassess the situation in the coming days.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play two Test matches in Pakistan starting on August 21.
BCB physio Bayzedul Islam commented on the recent fitness testing: “We conducted a fitness test before the World Cup and were unable to carry out running tests due to the weather. Instead, we focused on strength assessment. Fourteen players participated in the test.”
The non-cooperation movement, a response to ongoing protests, is set to commence on Sunday, according to its organisers.
