Leaving behind so many schmooze since Tamim Iqbal saga, Bangladesh national cricket team all set to leave for Sri Lanka today with their Asia Cup mission targeting to go a far with progressing match by match.
Bangladesh team is scheduled to leave Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport Dhaka at 12:55 pm.
Bangladesh will start their campaign from August 31, the day after the inaugural of the six nations’ tournament on August 30 when apart from full four members’ countries of the ICC, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Nepal also qualified to play in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup.
However, there were so many talking and little controversy with the Asian Cup squad for overlooking Mahmudullah Riyad in the team and taking a bit late of naming the team’s captain, Tigers just left behind all negative aspects prepared to fly for Colombo.
Bangladesh, who are in the Group A, will have to face off huge challenge of the hosts and the reigning champions Sri Lanka at Pallekele in a day-night affairs.
Tigers have experiences playing in the final for three times and this time the captain Shakib Al Hassan, believes that they have ability to go a far but did not disclosed about their specific target, as during a press meet of Saturday he told that they just want to go forward match by match.
The Tigers’ captain, who is satisfied with the preparation for the Asia Cup and thinks Ebadot’s injury is a setback for them, said, “All of us have good preparations but injury of Ebadot a bit setback. Thinking through our preparations and the squad we have, I think we would be able to go a far. But, we want to progress match by match. Ebadot is an important bowler of our team, so his injury is a bit setback for us.”
Shakib, who has a huge confidence on the squad, said, “This time we have better team than the previous, that’s why we have great prospect to do well. Our target would be to go match by match, whatever that is Asia Cup or Word Cup. We will try to play well every match.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh did not any match in the last occasion of the Asia Cup, which was took place in T20 format and this time the tournament returned to it’s previous format 50 overs.
Shakib, who is now thinking all about the Asia Cup said, “We all our concentration with the Asia Cup, and right now we are thinking with the matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and will be think about World Cup later on, these are different tournament. Doing well in the Asia Cup is not at all guaranteed to do well in the World Cup, similarly it’s not like that after doing bad in the Asia Cup, it would not possible to do well in the next stage.”
