Bangladesh's national cricket team will held a fitness camp with a pool of 32 cricketers, starting on Monday.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu stated that there will be a fitness test on July 29 and a Yo-Yo Test of the cricketers on August 3.

Following that, BCB will select 21-22 cricketers from the existing pool of 32 cricketers for the skill camp which will begin on August 8 in Dhaka. The fitness camp is part of fitness assessment for the players ahead of the announcement of the preliminary squad for the Asia Cup, informed Nannu.

“Our fitness camp is starting on July 31. On the 3rd August, there will be a Yo-Yo test. We want to see the fitness level of the players and evaluate them. We selected 32 players. They will take the yo-yo test and join the skill camp on the 8th,” said Nannu.

“Before that we will announce a team of 21- 22 players on 5-6 August. They will do the skill camp for the Asia Cup. The yo-yo test is just to see the condition of the cricketers. Chances of dropping out depend on it,” he added.

However, the chief selector didn’t reveal the name of the cricketers who are in the player pool.

“We are not revealing the team of 32 people, it will remain within us. We will announce the 21-22 man squad. Here you will see all three versions practice session. Bangladesh Tigers are practicing, HP is practicing with them. Most of the players are busy in some way. We took 32 players from there,” he added.

However, Nannu also added that the results of the fitness camp won't be taken into consideration for the selection process as it is only to determine the current fitness level of the players.

According to Nannu, the chairman of cricket operations, head coach and the captain will have an important say before they finalise the squad.
