After bowling out South Africa for 453, Tamim and Nazmul Hossain Shanto looked bit determined for a competitive reply the hosts’ total at the first innings of the second Test in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

But all at a sudden, Tamim was trapped by Mulder’s swing ball and went to the pavilion after scoring 47 of just 57 balls. Before Tamim’s lbw out the duo looked comfortable on the pitch.

Nazmul Hasan Shanto followed Tamim just after three runs when Mulder again trapped the batter for lbw for 32 and Bangladesh lost three wickets for 83. Once again Mulder did strike and this time the Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque lost his wicket scoring just six runs.

After losing the first wicket of Mahmudul Hassan Joy scoring no run, Tamim and Shanto showed some determination to make a decent partnership of 79 runs.

Earlier, Keshav Moaraj, accomplished another exhilarating job scoring 85 off 95 balls in the second Test in Port Elizabeth following playing the key role of damaging Bangladesh on paltry 53 runs taking seven wickets in the second innings of first Test in Durban.

Maharaj innings however took the game away from Bangladesh grip and the visitors’ bowlers had some solace with Taijul Islam’s six wickets, only the second Bangladesh bowler to achieve the feat after Shakib Al Hasan.

On the first day, South Africa hinted that they would take driving seat with the captain Dean Elgar accompanied by Keegan Petersen and Temba Bavuma.

Apart from the opener Sarel Erwee, four batters smacked half centuries in a row that kept South African scorecard streaming the first day of the Port Elizabeth Test.

After a huge struggle in the morning session, Bangladesh bowlers could remove Maharaj and Mulder but by that time the duo boosted the Protease to a dependable total. The hosts finally piled up 453 runs.

Bangladesh replying to a South African commanding total saw the big blow with losing the opener Mahmudul Hassan Joy for a duck with scoreboard showing only three runs.

Joy deserves some credits for his scintillating batting display in the first Test in Durban.
