Tigers still have chances to level the series

Published : 06 Jul 2022 07:45 PM

igers will embark on a do or die encounter tomorrow when they will play their last match to avoid the defeat of three-match T20 series to be held at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

As the rain came as a blessing for the Tigers to force the first T20 to abandon, chances still left for Bangladesh to draw the series with winning the last match at Guyana despite West Indies are leading the series by 1-0 after winning the second match at Dominica.

Bangladesh will play the match following their humiliation in the two-match Test series and in the second match of the T-20 series.

Eventually, tomorrow’s match is turned into a prestige issue for the Tigers, as they have been trying to break the winning draught and specifically in the ongoing West Indies tour they are yet to have some solace, at least winning a match or even to offer any spirited combat.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ celebrated bowling attacks in both the Test and the T20 matches    looked utterly ordinary of ideas in near-perfect batting conditions. There was an unusual summer of relatively flat pitches, the West Indian batters proved at Antigua, St. Lucia (Test venues) and at Roseau (2nd  T20) and an exceedingly flat batch of white balls but this sequence of audacious chases has come against two West Indian fast-bowling attacks, their attacks created sustain pressure on Tigers.

However, the Tigers will have to make a fresh start at Guyana where they have some pleasant memory of three glorious victories in three ODIs at Providence Stadium.

Fast forward to 2007 and 2018, the ICC (ODI) World Cup victory against South Africa in 2007, three-match ODI series against the West Indies in 2018 at this ground following the series win at Antigua in 2009 might the great boost up for the Tigers.

Forgetting the recent bitter experiences, Tigers will have to keep up the momentum of winning matches at different grounds in West Indies.

Tigers have some young prodigy in the squad, who have the zone of sharing experiences for their development, which is the range where learners can rapidly develop their ability to problem-solve in challenging scenarios under the guidance of more knowledgeable people, like Shakib Al Hassan, Mahmudullah Riyad, Liton Das and Mehdy Miraz.

The young’s ability to learn rapidly in the toughest of environments could not be exemplified any better than by sharing their problems with the experienced.

Might be this match would be inspiration for the Tigers ahead of their ODI sereis to kick off at this ground (Providence Stadium) from July 10, though there would be some changes in the ODI but one win can change a lots to boost up the team.

However, experienced, along with the young will have to stir up on time to knock quick fires, as Brandon King and Rovan pair smacked 63 from 28 deliveries following captain Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King, the third wicket stand turned into as rescuer with 74 off 57 balls after the West Indians saw early setback losing two wickets for 26.

Tigers have the courage to fight against any odd situation to bring the result in their favor but they need the self-confidence to translate their talent with the bats and balls.
