After a huge talking for last few days, the most coveted squad for the upcoming T-20 Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh national team was announced on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium media conference room when the long server Mahmudullah Riyad had no place in the 15-man squad.
Predictably, Shakib Al Hassan appointed as the captain when Nurul Hassan was announced the deputy of Shakib.
There was no surprise not see the name of Mushfiqur Rahim in the squad when the veteran wicket keeper-batter earlier retired from the T-20 format when Naim Sheikh, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mahedi Hasan, Anamul Haque Bijoy who were in the squad for Bangladesh's debacle Asia Cup were dropped.
Meanwhile, Liton Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Hasan Mahmud who were injured, returned to following their recovery.
Veteran player Mahmudullah Riyad was axed from the squad following his poor form in this format.
The veteran cricketer Mahmudullah Riyad, who led Bangladesh to some matches in different tournament was overlooked considering his performances in last few occasions when he has been going through a prolonged from poor performances. He made 52 runs at a strike rate of 106.12 in the Asia Cup, and has a total of 151 runs in eight T20I innings this year.
Meanwhile, same squad will take part in the tri-series before the World Cup in New Zealand, featuring the hosts and Pakistan scheduled to be held between October 7 and 14.
