Tigers show their worth

Bangladesh’s recent series triumph against the mighty Aussies in T20 cricket, for the first time ever, highlighted that sky is the limit for this current crop of players. The perfect blend of youth and experience in this team can bear fruit for Bangladesh in T20 cricket for a long term, a format Tigers often suffer to deliver. However, with the T20 series win against Australia, Bangladesh showed they can beat any strong outfit in world cricket at the moment.

The way all the 11 members on this team showed character, aptitude and resilience throughout the series is commendable to say the least. The youngsters perfectly capitalised the momentum, in the absence of some senior players, and they showed that the future of Bangladesh cricket are in safe hands. These youngsters can certainly propel Bangladesh cricket to the next level.

The 20-year-old batsman Afif Hossain showed glimpses of his talent with the bat against Aussies, there is more to come from him. He is appreciated as the most talented player among the current players on either sides. Going forward, Bangladesh cricket will expect a lot from him on the batting front.

The smooth transition of U-19 World Cup winning pacer, Shoriful Islam into the national team fortifies our pace department even more. He is a very bright prospect. He has been performing consistently since he started playing for the national team and throughout this series he performed exceptionally well as his wicket taking ability at the crucial stages turned the game towards Bangladesh’s favour. Wicket keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan is also a brilliant batsman and was active behind the stumps, showed positive intent in everything. 

We know the arrival of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in 2007 had completely changed our cricketing vision and now we can see that time has now come for this talented youngsters. They along with the experienced campaigners make Bangladesh a more formidable team, which will likely take the Tigers to new heights.
