Tigers return home

Published : 17 Jul 2025 08:58 PM

Bangladesh cricket team touched down at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday afternoon (Thursday), fresh from securing a momentous and historic first-ever Twenty20 International series victory against Sri Lanka. Their triumphant return comes a mere day after the Tigers clinched an emphatic eight-wicket win in the decisive third match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, marking a significant milestone in their cricketing history on Lankan soil. This hard-fought success provides a much-needed boost for Litton Das's side, particularly after a challenging tour that saw them endure disappointing outings in the preceding Test and One-Day International series. The elation of the T20I triumph, however, will be short-lived for the returning squad.

The players and coaching staff, including the likes of Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon, have little time to savour their achievement. Preparations are set to immediately shift to their next challenge: a three-match T20I series against Pakistan.

The team is scheduled to resume training as early as today (Friday), highlighting the relentless nature of the international cricket calendar. The upcoming home series against Pakistan will see the Tigers in action at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on July 20th, 22nd, and 24th, with all matches scheduled for a 6:30 PM local start. This series offers Bangladesh a prime opportunity for redemption, particularly given their comprehensive 3-0 whitewash during their last T20I tour of Pakistan in May.

The focus now firmly shifts from celebrating a historic win to preparing for another crucial sub-continental showdown on home turf.
