Bangladesh cricketers are finding it difficult to fight with Ireland's adversarial weather. No one provided any kind of resistance except experienced Shakib Al Hasan in the defeat against Ireland Wolves team in the practice match. So before yesterday’s ODI match Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said about preparing mentally ahead of tri-nation series against West Indies and hosts Ireland.
Players cannot take to the field by putting on cold clothing items and accessories. During the match against Windies yesterday, it was seen that players were struggling to cope with the cold chilly weather. Shakib was seen to put his hands on the pocket and shivering with cold Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has therefore given up hopes of adjusting to the weather, with the captain urging his side to accept the conditions and move on.
The Tigers played their first match of the tri-nation series against the West Indies yesterday, six days after their arrival in Ireland.
They have completed four practice sessions during this tenure and a warm up match in that time. But that has not proved sufficient to get used to with the conditions in Ireland. Breeze of cold wind have been the main challenge that Bangladesh players are facing.
The players were also finding it difficult to cope with the weather during the practice session ahead of the match against the West Indies. Speaking to the media on Monday, Mashrafe said that the team must overcome the elements with a collective strength of will.
“It’s a battle against the cold weather. I don’t think we will be able to completely adjust to it. Even those who live here have to battle the cold.”
“I think we weren’t able to adjust with the cold weather here as even the locals also struggle. There is no scope to adjust as we have to be mentally tough and it will only be an excuse after the game, so ultimately, we have to deal with it and play,” Mashrafe told reporters
“We don’t have the chance to adapt. But at the end of the day, when you’re out on the field, the weather won’t be anything more than an excuse. We have to accept this reality and play.”
