Tigers celebrate Victory Day in New Zealand

After 9 long months of war with Pakistan, on 16th December in 1971, we got Bangladesh. Yesterday (Thursday) was an unforgettable glorious day of a thousand years of valour and heroism of the Bengali nation. Bangladesh national team cricketers also celebrated this victory day from abroad.

For training, Bangladesh visited Hagley Oval Park in Christchurch, New Zealand on Thursday. The team was supposed to practice. But due to rain the players did not come on the field with bat and ball. However, the cricketers celebrated the victory day by singing the national anthem. Team director Khaled Mahmud Sujan and some other members of the team management were present at the time. Mushfiqur Rahim, Taijul Islam, Liton Das and others stood together in front of the national flag and sang the national anthem.

Cricketers have also written about Victory Day on social media. Mushfiqur Rahim wrote, ‘My motherland is celebrating its 50th Victory Day today. The contribution of this nation to my position today is not small. Let us not forget the families of the martyred freedom fighters. Best wishes for the wonderful first half century, my Bangladesh. ‘

Fast bowler Rubel Hossain wrote, ‘50 years of victory BD (Bangladesh). This country is my pride - victory is my inspiration. Humble tribute to the nation's fearless sons. ‘

Nafis Iqbal, the logistics manager with the national team, also wished Victory Day on Facebook. Shakib Al Hasan, who is in the country, wrote on Facebook, "Let's celebrate the victory with our heads held high with pride. Happy Victory Day, Bangladesh! '
