The Bangladesh national cricket team left for Sri Lanka on Monday to play a two-match series of the World Test Championship. After arriving in Colombo at 3:30 pm, the Bangladesh team was taken to Nigombo. Where everyone completed their three-day compulsory room quarantine.

Now after the end of the three-day quarantine period, the Bangladesh team was able to start a limited range of practice from Thursday as all the corona tests conducted during the room quarantine came negative. Mominul Haque and Co. went to practice at a field 20 minutes away from the team hotel at 9:15 am local time on Thursday.

Team Bangladesh is now at the Jet Young Beach Hotel in Nigombo. Which is right next to the sea. After two days of limited range practice, there will be a two-day warm-up match between them on April 17-18. The main squad of the Test series will be announced after reviewing everyone's condition in this match.

Later on April 19 and 20 there will be an opportunity to practice for two days. After the practice, the fight of the main series will start from April 21. The second match will be played from April 29. Both matches will be played at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. Bangladesh team will return to the country on May 4 at the end of the series.

It is to be noted that even though the holy month of Ramadan has started, the cricketers of the Bangladesh team could not fast on the day of practice due to the hot weather. However, almost all the cricketers and staff of the national team fasted for the first time on Wednesday.

The Asian nation has struggled to make a mark since returning from the Covid-19 break. Bangladesh lost the Test series to what was basically a second string West Indies side. And that was followed by a lacklustre show in New Zealand. With Bangladesh hurtling to some heavy defeats in the recent past, Russell Domingo, the head coach, has come under scrutiny. Now in the longer version in Sri Lanka, Tigers’ focus has to be kept throughout the match to grind out results.

Before leaving for the island nation, there had been talks of there being hierarchies within the team and many of the established players are still being branded as youngsters despite years of experience with the national side. Now keeping all these aside Tigers have to start performing on the field soon to prove their credentials.
