Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar train service from Dec 1

Tickets for 3 days sold in 3 hours

The highly anticipated Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar train tickets for the inaugural ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ were completely sold out within three hours.

Almost 90 percent of the nearly 2,500 tickets for the December 1, 2, and 3 journeys were slurped up electronically, highlighting the huge interest of travel enthusiasts.

The ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on November 11, is poised to commence its journey on December 1. With 13 coaches having facilities of 700 seats the inaugural train has become the center point of people's interest.

The train, imported from South Korea, promises a luxurious travel experience with a departure from Dhaka at 10:30 PM and an estimated arrival in Cox’s Bazar at 6:40 AM, featuring stops at Dhaka Airport and Chattogram Station.

Ticket prices for the ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ range from Tk 695 for Shovon chairs to Tk 1325 for AC chairs, However, in the inaugural train there will be no cabin and AC berth facilities.

The Chief Operating Superintendent of Eastern Railway Shahidul Islam informed the media that if these amenities are added, ticket prices will be adjusted accordingly.

The train’s journey from Dhaka is scheduled to take 8.10 hours. The train will depart at 10:30 PM and reach Cox's Bazar station at 6 AM. The return journey will commence at 12:40 PM from Cox’s Bazar, and taking a technical break at Chattogram station, will reach Kamalapur Station via Dhaka Airport station at 9:10 PM.

The overwhelming demand for the mentioned train tickets highlights how much it was needed for the major tourist attraction of the country. As the 'Cox's Bazar Express' prepares to embark on its maiden voyage, it signifies a new era in luxury train travel, promising a seamless blend of comfort and convenience for passengers on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route, said an official of Kamalapur Railway Station.
