Celebrating the anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, cultural organisation Thumri arranged a programme at Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital on Friday evening.
Prominent Nazrul instructor and singer Afsana Runa, also the secretary of Thumri, delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the event. Then, veteran music director and president of Thumri, Sujeya Shyam also delivered his speech.
Among others, noted singers Syed Abdul Hadi, Khursid Alam, Shelu Barua, Shahjahan Patwary, Rawshan Ara Soma, Babul Reza, Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Syed Mustafa Kamal and editor of ‘Sargam’ Kazi Rawnak Hasan were present at the programme.
The musical segment of the event began with the rendition of Tagore song titled ‘Chhaya Ghonaichhe Bone Bone’ performed by Kamal Ahmed. He also performed several popular numbers like ‘Nishi Na Pohate’, ‘Ami Tomar Sange Bendhechhi Amar Pran’, ‘Amaro Porano Jaha Chai’ and ‘Akash Vora Surja Tara’.
Started with ‘Tumi Kon Pothe Ele’, eminent Nazrul Sanger singer Yasmin Mushtari performed the songs titled ‘Pardeshi Megh’, ‘Gother Rakhal’, ‘Sedin Chilo Gudhuli Lagan’ and ‘Tarun Premik’.
Rabindra Singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury and Nazrul Sangeet artiste Afsana Runa also performed at the programme.
