Three terrorists of the separatist group United People’s Democratic Front or UPDF were killed in a gunfight with the Bangladesh Army in Khagrachhari, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate. The gunfight broke out between the terrorists UPDF members and an army patrol unit in the district's Dighinala, the ISPR said press release on Sunday. Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zaid, director of ISPR, also confirmed it. Three firearms, including a sophisticated USA made M-4 automatic rifle also recovered from the scene.
Huge amount of ammunition were also seized from the spot. Getting information, local police recovered the bodies. However, the detailed identities of the deceased terrorists were yet to be disclosed by police. Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zaid said, “The situation in the area is fully under control of Bangladesh Army.” He further said, “Army will conduct such operation in future for ensuring peace and security of the area.”
