A mobile court has fined three companies Tk 2.5 lakh for not renewing additional rice stocks and licenses in a raid at Noakhali's main commercial center Chaumuhani.

Deputy Commissioner's Executive Magistrate Saikat Raihan conducted the operation on the initiative of the District Food Control Department from Sunday afternoon to night.

Acting District Food Controller Humayun Kabir and Begumganj Upazila Food Controller Prabir Kumar Mandal were present on the occasion.

According to mobile court sources, the raid was carried out on the basis of allegations that some companies had stockpiled extra rice in Chaumuhani Bazaar.
