Three people abducted in Sariakandi

Three people, including the son of the owner of a buffalo herd, have been abducted from Takamagura Char on the Jamuna River in Sariakandi of Bogra district. The miscreants demanded a ransom of Tk 6 lakh after they were abducted in a boat last Monday night.

The owner of the buffalo has lodged a written complaint with Mojibar Pramanik Sariakandi Police Station of Laxmikola Char in Bohail Union of the upazila.

The abductees are Shaheen, 22, son of Mojibur Pramanik, Jasim, 20, son of Ibrahim of Gonduri village in Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha and Iman Ali, 28, son of Shafiqul Islam.

Mojibar Pramanik of Laxmikola Char has 14 buffaloes, his cousin Ismail Hossain has 29 buffaloes and his brother-in-law Osman Gani of Chanbari Char has 19 buffaloes.

They have been rearing 72 buffaloes in Takamagura Char of Jamuna River in Chandanbaisha Union.

Ismail Hossain said the abducted Shaheen, Jasim and Iman called to save them on Monday night at 2pm, 10am on Tuesday and 1pm. Since then their mobile phones have been switched off.
