Three killed in Ctg container depot blast

Three workers were killed in an explosion at a container depot in Patenga area of Chattogram on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Arman, Muktar and Newaz. One of them was a driver’s assistant while other two were welding workers, said Zobair Syed, officer-in-charge of Potenga Police Station.

OC Zobair said, the explosion took place while repairing a fuel tank of a prime mover at the Incontrade Container Depot located at Laldiar Char of Patenga, killing three people on the spot, and injuring three others.”

One of the injured was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, he added.

According to police, all the victims were the employees of the Incontrade Ltd.

Managing Director of Incontrade Mohsin Sarker said, the vehicle's fuel tank was left open while welding it.

There might have some oil left inside the tank, triggering the explosion, he added.
