Acting on a tip-off, the Bangladesh Navy, in coordination with police, conducted two separate raids on Saturday in Mahajanpatti, Circular Road, and near the Borhanuddin Bridge in Bhola Sadar.
The operation led to the seizure of smuggled and counterfeit tax-evading cigarettes marked with fake banderoles, including 11,320 sticks of Black King, 8,880 of Osaka, 4,460 of T-20, and 139,610 of 50/50 brand — all distributed via Kalyani Distribution under the name of Shams Enterprise.
The seized goods have an estimated market value of BDT 731,800.
Three individuals were arrested for stocking and distributing the illegal products. Detainees from the Borhanuddin raid were handed over to local police. Locals expressed satisfaction with the Navy’s actions.
The Navy has pledged to continue such operations to protect national revenue and coastal security.
