A house along with three goats and household goods were completely burnt down in a terrible fire at Santhia in Pabna. It has caused a loss of about Tk 2 lakh . The incident took place at the house of Bilayet Ali Mollah in Santhia Fakirpara village of the municipal sadar on Friday morning.
The fire started from an electrical short circuit on and spread all over the house. Three goats in the house were burnt instantly and the elderly Belayet Ali Mollah was rescued from the house.
Belayet Ali Mollah lived on one side of the house and there was a jute mattress on the other side. When a fire breaks out in jute matress, it is no longer possible to control the fire.
After trying to control the fire for about 45 minutes with the help of locals, the house was completely burnt down. When the fire service car arrived late from Santhia fire station, everything was burnt to ashes.
KM Abu Hena Rony, duty officer of Santhia Fire Service Station, said, “We got the news late. When we arrived, we saw that the locals brought the fire under control.”
