The Selim Al Deen Memorial Festival is a three-day event organized to commemorate the 12th anniversary of ‘Natyacharya’ Selim al-Deen.
The Swapnodal has organized this festival at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from January 14.
In addition to the staging of ‘Hargoj’ and ‘Tringsho Shatabdi’ by Swapnodal there will be seminars, commemorations, floral wreaths, burial offerings at the tomb, artwork with portraits of the ‘Natyacharya’.
On the first day of the festival, on the morning of January 14, a visit to Jahangirnagar University as a Swapnodal will travel from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and To the old Kalabhaban on Jahangirnagar University campus to hold a memorial march towards the tomb of Natacharya where floral wreaths will be placed. Then at 7pm, Swapnodal will stage ‘Tringsho Shatabdi’ at the Experimental Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the direction of Zahid Ripon written by the playwright Selim Al Deen.
The second day is at the Studio Theater at 8pm on Wednesday, January 8th, with a third-century exhibition under the leadership of Badal Sarkar under the direction of Zahid Ripon.
A special seminar titled ‘Oitijhhyobahi Bangalee Natyariti, Doitadoitobadi Shilpatatto O Selim al-Deener Natyadarshan’ is going to be held at the seminar room of the National Theater on Friday 17 January at 4:00pm. Here, Jahangirnagar University’s School of Drama and Theatrics Professor Dr. Lutfar Rahman will conduct the discussion. Manchasarathy Ataur Rahman will preside over the seminar. Dr. Soma Momtaz, dramatist Mannan Hira, dramatist Kamal Bayazid, dramatist Masum Reza, dramatist Sadhana Ahmed, dramatist Apurba Kumar Kundu and others will be present. Zahid Ripon, the chief secretary of Swapnodal will deliver the welcome address.
