The three-day International Ceramic Expo Bangladesh 2019 at International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital ended on Saturday.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi inaugurated the exhibition organised by the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA).
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries President Sheikh Fazle Fahim, BCMEA President Md Shirajul Islam Mollah and General Secreatary Irfan Uddin were present at the event, among others.
This is the second edition of the exhibition the BCMEA has been arranging since 2017. The expo will remain open from 10am to 7pm for all visitors.
The minister in his inauguration speech said the demand for Bangladesh-made ceramic products in global market was increasing everyday for their qualities and designs.
Besides, new markets for ceramic products were opening up, he said, adding that the country’s ceramic products were now used in different five-star international hotels, which was a matter of pride.
“The government is planning more facilities for the industry so that manufacturers can boost their exports,” Munshi said and hoped that the ceramic would secure the third or fourth position in export earnings soon.
Mentioning the ceramic industry was most promising after readymade garment (RMG) FBCCI President Fazle Fahim said, the industry should be awarded the similar fiscal facilities like those of RMG.
The BCMEA Prsident said that they arranged the event to promote ceramic exports.
About 120 companies from 20 countries participated in the expo to showcase their products.
