Three-day int’l conference on ‘Rumi’ begins today at DU

A three-day long international conference titled 'International Rumi conference-2022' with the theme 'Rumi's Philosophy for a society of love, peace and humanity' is going to begin at Dhaka University 

(DU) today.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will inaugurate the conference as chief guest at university's Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the  campus, with DU Vice Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair. 

A total of 28 researchers from 7 countries will deliver their presentation on Jalaluddin Rumi, the thirteenth-century Persian poet, in eight academic sessions of the international conference.

Chairperson of Persian Language and literature and also member secretary of conference organizing committee Professor Dr Mohammad Bahauddin revealed the information today at a press conference held at the office of Dhaka University Journalists' Association. 

DU Pro-VC (administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, ndian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram K Doraiswami, Iran Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi and Turkey ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan will address the inaugural session as special guests while Convener of the conference Dr KM Saiful Islam Khan will give vote of thanks.

DU Persian language and literature and Allama Rumi Society Bangladesh has been jointly organizing the conference on the occasion of centenary celebration of the department of Persian language and literature and 11th death anniversary of Syed Ahmadul Haq, known as 'Banglar Rumi'. 

Academics and researchers from seven countries-India, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Syria, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will participate in the conference in eight different venues.  

 Treasurer of Rumi Society Dr Mohammad Abdul Majid, Professor Dr Muhsin Uddin Mia and Professor Tariqe Ziaur Rahman Siraji were also present in the press conference.
