Three children were killed in a landslide while playing at Kishamat village under Belka union of Sundarganjn upazila in the district on Friday afternoon, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Hazrat Ali, 07, and Abir Hossain, 05, sons of Masud Miah at Baraboldia village under Malibari union of Sadar upazila and their cousin Rifat Miah, 04, son of Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Kishamat village.
Locals said road construction work has started in the area by cutting soil two days ago. Meanwhile, soil was piled up for repairing the road in front of their house.
In the afternoon, the piled soil suddenly fell on the three minors while playing on the street. All of them died on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sundarganj Police Station Abdullahil Zaman confirmed the matter.
