Three business entities fined in Rangpur

A mobile court fined three business establishments from different places at Pirganj upazila in Rangpur district on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Pirganj upazila administration, led by Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Khadija Begum, jointly conducted the drives at different places in the upazila and fined a total of Tk 55,000 to three business establishments.

The alleged were Hakim Foods Limited of Pirganj, fined Tk 20000 for not having a verification certificate for the truck weighbridge as per the Weights and Measures Act-2018, Nature Sweets and Gulshan Hotel in Pirganj Bazar, fined Tk 5000 and Tk 20000, respectively for selling and distributing curd and sweets without accepting the certificate and Sheikh Doi Ghar Hotel of Pirganj, fined Tk 10000 under the Consumer Rights Act.

BSTI prosecutors Field Officer (Certification Marks) Md Towhid Al Amin and Inspector (Metrology) Md Almas Mia were present during the drive.

Deputy Director (Physical) and Rangpur Divisional Office Chief of BSTI Mobin-Ul-Islam confirmed the drive and said that the divisional BSTI office will continue such drives in the public interest.
