Rupganj Correspondent: In a special operation conducted by the Bangladesh Army, three top criminals were arrested with a significant cache of firearms and illegal drugs in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj. The raid took place on Friday morning in the Mashimpur area under Murapara Union.
The detainees have been identified as Russel, son of Arshu Mia from Mashimpur; Rajon Mia, son of Monir Hossain from Brahmangao; and Shawon Mia. All three were reportedly involved in drug and arms trafficking for an extended period, creating fear among local residents.
According to army sources, the raid resulted in the recovery of one pistol bullet, one shotgun cartridge, 460 yaba tablets, 49 bottles of Phensedyl, and a motorcycle. These items were part of a supply chain that allegedly distributed arms and drugs to Dhaka and other parts of the country.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station, Tariqul Islam, stated that the army handed over the suspects after primary interrogation. Legal proceedings under the Arms and Narcotics Control Acts are currently underway.
Local residents expressed relief following the arrests, stating that the trio had long terrorised the area. Authorities have assured continued joint operations to combat crime in Rupganj.
