Three abducted at gunpoint in Teknaf

Three people, including two farmers and a cattle herder, were abducted at gunpoint in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place near the hills in the agricultural lands of Chowkidarpara area under Baharchhara Union.

The abducted individuals have been identified as Md. Ali (32), son of Md. Abdullah; Rahmat Ullah (16), son of Abul Monjur; and Sultana Ahmed (34), son of Abdus Salam—all residents of Chowkidarpara.

Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, Abu Zayed Md. Nazmun Noor, confirmed the incident and said a rescue operation is underway. “Two of the victims are farmers and one is a herder. They were taken away at gunpoint,” he said.

According to Cox’s Bazar District Police, a total of 263 people have been abducted from various parts of Teknaf over the past 19 months, with most released only after ransom was paid.
