Thousands of people remained marooned by flood water despite northern rivers dropped below their danger marks on Wednesday.
Flood affected people complained about a shortage of drinking water and food. There is also an extreme shortage of fodder.
People also suffered as many roads were submerged in flood water.
Rangpur divisional commissioner Habibur Rahman said that about 30 thousand families are now suffering in Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat because of flood.
Many families have left their homes and taken shelter on higher ground.
Suffering has increased in Dahgram union of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat due to the collapse of roads, stranding two hundred families.
Kurigram deputy commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif said that 10,500 families became marooned in the district.
Flood Forecasting Warning Centre data released on Tuesday afternoon showed that the Jamuna was flowing 3 centimetres above the danger mark at 9:00am but was likely to drop below the mark.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rainfall in most of the places of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the 24 hours until 6:00pm.
In Dhaka, rain might be experienced in many places.
In the 24 hours until 6:00pm on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s highest rainfall of 102 millimetres was recorded in Srimangal, said the BMD.
