'They never dreamt for their own homes, the streets were their address', But on the grace of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the third gender people of Sarishabari have been gifted with new homes on the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

According to sources, the total number of allowance recipient third gender people in Sarishabari upazila is 18, of them nine got their own homes. Six more of them do not get any allowance.

By getting nine houses under Asrayan Project built by the third gender people by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the joy of the recipients of the houses knows no bounds.

They have expressed their gratitude and thanks to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, local MP and State Minister of Information and Broadcasting Alhaj Dr Murad Hasan, UNO Shihab Uddin Ahmed and PIO Humayun Kabir.

Third gender house recipient Moyna informed after receiving a call from the UNO, the third gender people went to meet him. It was like a dream to them when the UNO told them that semi-pucca houses have been donated for them from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Getting the houses, everything of their lives changed within a moment.

With tearful eyes, Moyna said so far they did not have any address, no houses even no one agreed to rent them any room. Now, they were the proud owners of their own homes, Moyna added. Moyna requested to the Prime Minister, like them, all the third gender people in the country are provided with their own homes.

Project Implementation Officer Humayn Kabir said he was extremely happy by providing shelters for the third gender people. Mayna and other third gender people are extremely glad by getting the houses.

UNO Shihab Uddin Ahmed said the government is working to ensure shelters for the third gender people, disables, helpless widowed and the landless people. 'We are working for these neglected third gender people so that they do not remain homeless'.
