Covid-19 vaccination programme for third gender people has started in Chattogram.
Chattogram Divisional Health Director Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir inaugurated the vaccination programme as the chief guest on Monday afternoon.
The health department has set a target of vaccinating about 500 people of the third gender in Chattogram through a special campaign at the district civil surgeon's office.
Dr Hassan Shahriar Kabir said that corona infection has been declining since the start of vaccination program. Corona has already come down to zero in Chattogram. Meanwhile, third gender people are overwhelmed to be able to get vaccinated very easily.
District Civil Surgeon's Office said that it has been decided to bring 65,300 workers of various industries in Chattogram under vaccination in a short time.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Elias Chowdhury presided over the function. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Asif Khan, Medical Officer Dr Wazed Ovi, WHO Representative Dr Jahedul Islam, District Health Supervisor Sujan Barua and others were present on the occasion.
