They are all smiling getting disaster-proof house from the PM

Nasima Khatun is now well after getting the house given by Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. She prayed fervently for the Prime Minister to find a place to shelter her.

Nasima Khatun is a resident of Darial village in Nungola of Bogra Sadar upazila. Her husband died 20 years ago. Working in someone else’s house, Nasima bought two deximals of land by running a sewing machine provided by the government. The house given to her by the Prime Minister has been built on that place. She is now living in a new house.

This time 19 low-income people including Nasima have got disaster-tolerant houses in Sadar upazila. Earlier, 16 houses were constructed in this upazila in the last financial year.

According to the Bogra Sadar Upazila Project Implementation Officer’s Office, disaster-resistant modern housing was constructed in the 2019-20 fiscal year under the Prime Minister’s Special Allocated Rural Infrastructure Maintenance (TR) program. Under this project, houses were allotted to 19 families in Bogra Sadar Upazila. The estimated value of each house is 2 lakh 99 thousand taka. Farmers, laborers, day laborers, domestic workers, rickshaw-van drivers, farmers and various indigent people including Bauls have got this disaster-tolerant home.

Under the overall supervision of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman and Upazila Project Implementation Officer, the beneficiaries have gone home after the construction of these houses through various project committees. Each home has two rooms, two verandas, a kitchen, a corridor and toilet facilities. There are also tubewell and solar power facilities.

Two impoverished women and two men of Namuja Union of the upazila have got houses this time.

Rasel Mamun, chairman of the union, said the houses were built under the supervision of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Indigent people have got houses.

Indra Chandra Das of Shekherkola in Bogra Sadar Upazila, Mila Khatun of Shashibdani said, “Sheikh Hasina has given us homes. We didn’t have a place to shelter us and now we have our own house.”

Nungola UP chairman Alim Uddin said helpless people were happy to get houses. Everyone is now staying in government houses. Officials including UNO have taken care of the house construction work. The construction work has been completed properly.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries have moved into their houses as the construction work of these houses has been completed ahead of schedule. In July, Sadar Upazila Chairman Abu Sufian Safiq, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Azahar Ali, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman and concerned UP chairmen visited the houses and spoke to the beneficiaries. They visited and expressed satisfaction over the construction work.

Bogra Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman said the construction of 19 houses in Sadar Upazila in the 2019-20 financial year has been completed ahead of schedule through round-the-clock supervision. Beneficiaries are living in these houses.

Sadar Upazila Chairman and Upazila A-League President Abu Sufian Shafiq said that the helpless people were smiling when they got the house provided by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said he had visited the house built in Sadar upazila.
