Those behind the Netflix fantasy hit The Witcher are still hard at work so that we can shove a new season right into our eyeballs at some point (hopefully) soon-ish. There have been several possible updates about casting recently, with it sounding like the new season will positively brim with characters who will be brand new to the series, and now we're hearing that Season 2 has, reportedly, cast a video game actor for a different role.
According to Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher has just cast actor Alastair Parker in an undisclosed role. Parker had a prominent role in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as Carlo Varese, better known as Cleaver. If you're wondering why we're not assuming that Parker might bring his video game character to life on screen for Season 2, that's mostly because Cleaver is a dwarf, and Parker has a very large build that will likely kick him out of the running for the part on TV.
But, it would be a nice twist to the role that Alastair Parker took on in The Witcher 3, because it's thought that he may be playing Sigismund Dijkstra, a character with some impressive physicality, just like Parker. In the game, Parker's character
Cleaver is actually another member of The Big Four along with Dijkstra. The two men are part of a quad of gang leaders in Novigrad's criminal underground, with each of them seeking to rule Novigrad, the largest city in the northern part of the Continent. So, if Parker is, indeed, a part of the upcoming season of The Witcher, he could still be keeping with the illegal activities when we see him.
The last we heard word of Dijkstra in relation to The Witcher Season 2, it was late January, and actor Graham McTavish (Outlander, Lucifer) had posted a video of himself auditioning for a part on the show. In the clip, his character was called David, but the content of the scene made it seem very much like a conversation that Dijkstra would have. The character, along with being well-versed in illegal acts, is also the spymaster in the court of King Vizimir of Redania, and head of that kingdom's secret service. He's known for being almost seven feet tall, bald and dressing flamboyantly, despite his massive stomach. —Cinema Blend
