The construction of metro rail is progressing fast. The track of the long-cherished metro rail is almost ready. From the next month, city-dwellers will witness the movement of the much-awaited Metrorail.
It will take only 24 minutes to travel from Dhaka airport to Kamalapur once the line is up and running. Some 800,000 passengers can be carried by the trains daily once the task is completed.
However, this movement will be experimental. In this way, Metrorail will run experimentally for a year. The commercial journey of Metro Rail with passengers to Uttara-Agargaon may start next year.
“We will start its mainline test on viaduct in August,” Managing Director of DMTCL MAN Siddique said.
