Aung Rakhaine directed short film ‘The Last Post Office’ will be participating in Melbourne International Film Festival-2019 (MIFF) in Australia, which will be held from August 1 to 18.
The film will be screened in the segment named International Shorts Department.
‘The Last Post Office’ was first premiered in Locarno International Film Festival in 2018. It also participated in Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival and Hong Kong International Film Festival.
The 64-minute film revolves around a post office. Rumours run rife that the people who work there always disappear.
Ashish Khondoker, Shahria Ferdaus and Ashoke Bepary play pivotal characters in the film, which was shot in August 2017 at Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj.
“It is always an honour to represent Bangladesh in an international film festival. The film will be screened in International Shorts Department segment of the event on August 7 and 9,” said Aung Rakhaine.
“People do not write letters these days. The film features a postmaster and a postman who work in a dilapidated post office rarely visited by people,” he added.
It is the second film directed by Aung Rakhaine, who made his directorial debut with My Bicycle (2015).
