The film in which Bangabandhu acted

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the name of the versatility who was an artisan in the history of film in Bangladesh. Film in this country started journey with his hands.

On 3 April 1957, the last day of the session of the Provincial Legislative Assembly, Bangabandhu introduced the 'East Pakistan Film Development Corporation' Bill.

After raising the bill, the council members made some amendments and later it was passed in the Legislative Assembly without any hindrance. East Pakistan Film Development Corporation, now known as Bangladesh Film Development Corporation or FDC.

April 3 has been celebrated as National Film Day since 2012.

Bangabandhu used to watch movies. It is learned that he enjoyed these two films: ‘Rupban’ and Nabab Sirajuddaula’.

It’s surprising that Bangabandhu himself also acted in a film! The director of that film called 'Sangram' was the late producer Chashi Nazrul Islam.

The best Bengali of a thousand years appeared in a role in the film 'Sangram' about the liberation war. Bangabandhu acted in the last scene of the film having the request of the then actor Kamrul Alam Khan Khasru and filmmaker Nazrul Islam. 

It’s seen at the end of this film, after the liberation war, the military forces of the newly independent country are saluting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, the hero of the liberation struggle of the Bengalis. Director Chashi Nazrul Islam started thinking about how to capture this scene. Finally, Khasru offered Bangabandhu to act in the film. 

Although Bangabandhu did not want to do it at first, Khasru later persuaded him to act on the recommendation of the then Home Minister Abdul Mannan. Suchanda, Khasru and Bangabandhu starrer Sangram was released in 1974.
