Prachyanat is organizing ‘Mahala Magan’ courtyard drama fair 2020 in compliance with health rules. The month-long event is being held at their Kataban’s own rehearsal room in Prachyanat with the slogan ‘Aboshad Biruddho Srot’.

On Friday (September 11) evening will be staged - ‘The Dumb Waiter’. This has been translated from the work of Harold Pinter by Md. Rabiul Alam. Shawkat Hossain Sajib directed it on the stage. The play will have two screenings on Friday and Saturday at 7:15 pm.

20 spectators will get a chance to watch the play in each exhibition. Tickets cost TK 200 and Tk 100 only for theater workers.

In the story of ‘The Dumb Waiter’, two hired killers, Ben and Gus, are waiting for their next job instructions in a basement room. Gus embarrasses senior Ben by asking one question after another, and Ben hides behind the newspaper, trying to sidestep all of his colleagues’ questions. In the midst of words, they begin to prepare for work.

There was a lot of talk about the type of work they do, the phrases ‘Put on the kettles’ and ‘Put aside the kettle’ to make tea. Gus continues to ask sharper questions, Ben gets annoyed and the tension increases and thus continues the story of ‘The Dumb Waiter’.

Arif Reza Khan and Md. Farhad Ahmed have acted in the play.
