‘Terrorist’ killed in Jashore ‘gunfight’

A suspected terror was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of police inside a brick klin at Mahidia village under sadar upazila in Jashore on early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Shishir Ghos, 32, son of Nitto Ghos resident of Shashtitala area in Jashore town.He is an accused in at least 18 cases including four murder cases and five arms cases.  Kotwali thana officer-in-charge (OC) Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.

Police sources said, they arrested Shishir with four crude bombs at Shankarpur area in the town on Tuesday night. Based on information extorted from Shishir during primary interrogation, police took him to recover illegal firearms. As they reached near a brick klin at Mahida, associates of Shishir opened fire on police men, who retaliated by shooting at the crimanals.

In the meantime, Shishir was caught in the line of fire as he tried to get off and run away from the police, said OC Moniruzzaman. Later, police took injured Shishir to Jashore 250 bed general hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead at 3:30 pm .Cops also recovered one Shutter Gun and two round of bullets from the spot, he added. Two cases were filed in Jashore Kotwali Model thana.
