A young inventor from Chuadanga has made the nation proud by winning a gold medal at a prestigious international innovation competition in Malaysia.
Jahid Hasan Jihad, a student of Darshana Government College, secured the top honor at the four-day World Innovation Competition and Exhibition (WISE) 2025, held recently at SEGi University in Kuala Lumpur. His creation, the "Hexaguard Rover," was highly praised among nearly 200 participating teams from across the globe.
The "Hexaguard Rover" is a multi-purpose robotic vehicle designed for a wide range of critical operations. Its capabilities include bomb detection and disposal, fire identification and suppression, wildlife control and rescue missions, and border surveillance.
Jihad, who founded the Chuadanga Science and Robotics Club, spent nearly a year developing the rover with the help of his peers. "From rescue operations in fire incidents to bolstering military security, this rover can play a vital role," Jihad said.
The rover boasts impressive features, including the ability to withstand temperatures up to 1300 degrees Celsius, a stainless-steel body, a smoke-penetrating V38 Pro Zero camera, and MQ series gas sensors. This allows it to perform initial firefighting and rescue people in areas inaccessible to firefighters.
Equipped with a 6-DOF mechanical arm, metal detection, and a signal jamming system, the rover can identify and neutralize dangerous explosives. It is also effective for industrial safety, capable of detecting toxic gases like carbon monoxide, live video streaming, and delivering emergency supplies. Additional functions include wildlife control via tranquilizer injections, agricultural monitoring of soil moisture and crops, and delivering medicine and food in disaster zones.
This is not Jihad's first success. Last year, his "Train Security System" also gained national attention.
Officials and locals have expressed immense pride in his achievement. The Chuadanga District Administrator commended Jihad, stating, "He has brightened the name of Bangladesh on foreign soil. We wish the Chuadanga Science and Robotics Club even greater success in the future."
Jihad aims to further enhance the "Hexaguard Rover" with fully autonomous technology and long-range operational capabilities in the future.
