A teenage girl named Sanjida Akhter died after being accidentally strangled while filming a TikTok video in Chatkhil upazila Noakhali district.
The incident took place at Shibpur village in Khilpara union of the upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sanjida Akter, daughter of Manjurul Islam of Shibpur village and a fifth class student of a local government primary school.
According to the family members of the deceased, in the afternoon, unbeknownst to all the family members, Sanjida climbed on the cupboard of the house and went to record a TikTok video of her hanging the veil from the wall of the house. At that time, her foot slipped accidently, she fell from the cupboard and scarf got wrapped around her neck. Family members saw her and rushed her to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex after immediately rescuing her, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Chatkhil Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gias Uddin confirmed the matter and said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. The legal process is ongoing.
