Techno entrepreneurship assumes greater importance during Covid

Dr Kholiquzzaman tells international conference of DScE

Covid-19 has added some new dimensions to the international trade where techno entrepreneurship and digital tools have assumed a much greater importance, according to eminent economist and PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad.

Speaking at an international conference as the chief guest on Saturday in the capital, Dr Kholiquzzaman said strategies should focus on needs assessment, capacity building, resource allocation and prudent monetary and fiscal policies.

Entrepreneurial Economists Club and Dhaka School of Economics organised the conference titled "Entrepreneurship Development and International Economics under Covid-19 in Bangladesh: Aftermath of LDC Graduation".

Professor Sheikh Ekramul Kabir, Head of Admin, Academic Affairs and Development of DScE joined the conference as special guest.

He highlighted the necessity and applicability of entrepreneurial education in Bangladesh.

Professor Dr Sujata Khandai, Deputy Dean (Academics) of Amity University Noida in India presents the theme paper in the hybrid conference where 32 papers were presented from Bangladesh and abroad.

The papers deals with various issues related to agricultural, industrial and service sectors, and the strengthening of local government during pandemic.

A number of papers highlighted sustainability of the economy, entrepreneurial ecosystems and transition from traditional marketing systems to digital marketing systems through artificial intelligence.

The speakers discussed the use of artificial intelligence, block chain technology and ethical practices in business.

They said sustainable entrepreneurship growth is necessary to help sustainable development which is necessarily inclusive and environment-friendly activities.

They stressed the need for taking zero-tolerance policy against corruption by the public and private sectors.

Dr Azreen Karim. Research Fellow of BIDS, presented the opinion paper while Professor Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Coordinator of Entrepreneurial Economics at DScE, chaired the inaugural session.

Prof Mahboob Ali argued that Bangladesh is achieving sustainable development and that the present government has undertaken massive development plans, which are tremendously helping economic growth.

Sara Tasneem, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Economics at DScE, Md Mahbubur Rahman, Editor of The Daily Global Nation and Executive Director of SDO, Shariatpur also spoke.

Dr K Vinodha Devi from Economics Department of Kristu Jayanti College in India, and Prof Dr Jose G Vargas-Hernandez from Mexico were among those who presented papers while Dr Moazzem Hossain, Adjunct Associate Professor of Griffith University in Australia joined a session as special guest.

Among others, Dr Yashoda Krishna Durga from GNVS Institute of Management in India, Prof Dr Subrata Chattopadhyay from University Engineering and Management in India, Kris Jangjarat, Saranchana Kaewbuadee, and Dr Tanpat Karaiwanit from Rangsit University of Thailand, Sadia Islam, Assistant Professor of DScE, Dr Nadia Binte Amin, Managing Director of Research and Computing Services Private Ltd, Shiabur Rahman Shihab, Executive Editor of Bangladesh Post, Muhammad Rubaet Ahmed, Chairman of Glorius Sun Fashion Garments Ltd, and Mohammad Anisur Rahman Shohagh, CEO of Averroes International School, also spoke at different session.
