Teamwork a must for rehabilitating returning workers: Minister

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed said that all stakeholders need to work together to rehabilitate returning workers.

The minister said the government, along with all development partners and stakeholders related to immigration, wants to rehabilitate the returning workers and develop the immigration sector. "We have to work together to solve the problems of expatriate workers," he added.

The minister added that the government has taken various initiatives to rehabilitate the returning workers socio-economically. Mentioning that the government is sincere towards the expatriate workers, he said that an initiative is being taken to set up a hospital and diagnostic center in the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the expatriate workers.

The Minister said this while addressing a meeting on "POST COVID-19 REINTEGRATION OF RETURNED MIGRANT WORKERS: An Analysis and Way Forward" at the meeting room of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare at 11:30 am on Thursday. The meeting was conducted by the Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. Ahmed Munirush Salehin.

During the meeting, ILO, IOM, OCAP, Ramru, ICMPD, BNS were given presentations on rehabilitation of expatriate workers and development of the immigration sector.

Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board Md Hamidur Rahman, Director General of Manpower Employment and Training Bureau Chief of Mission Md Shahidul Alam NDC, IOM-Bangladesh Giorgi Gigario, ILO's Letesia Oibel and others were present at the meeting.
