The leaders of the Bangladesh University Teachers' Association Federation, representing all public university teachers in the country, have called for international involvement in the investigation of recent killings linked to the quota reform movement. They believe that the United Nations and other foreign organizations should be included in the investigation to ensure credibility.
Professor Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, the Secretary General of the Federation, shared this information with Jago News. He stated that the deaths of ordinary people, including students, during the movement need to be properly investigated by the judicial department. He emphasized that involving international organizations like the United Nations would add credibility to the investigation.
Professor Nizamul Haque also mentioned that the Federation will submit their demands to the government on behalf of the students who were arrested. He stressed that no more students should be arrested and those who are currently in custody should be released soon.
When asked if the teachers plan to take any action to bring the students back to class, Professor Nizamul Haque indicated that the teachers might soon withdraw their own movement. He added that they will then ask the government to stop the harassment of students and ensure their safety, urging students to return to their classes.
