TCB begins onion sale in Rajshahi

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) on Monday started selling of onion at Puthia upazila in Rajshahi to arrest price hike of the essentials.

TCB has sold the onion in a formal programme at the premises of Puthia upazila nirbahi office in a bid control price hike of onion at the local markets.

At a rate of Taka 45 per kilogram from the TCB, a good number of general people bought onion.

TCB will continue the selling of onion until the price reaches a tolerable level in the open markets. Besides, per kilogram of sugar will be also sold at Taka 50 while per kilogram oil at Taka 160 and per kilogram of lentil pulse at Taka 50.

Upazila nirbahi officer Mohammod Oliuzzaman, said that to keep consumers’ purchasing power in a control, such initiative has been taken to reduce the price hike of onion in the open markets.
