Our government’s constant development projects are propelling us towards a developed nation. Amid the booming economy and industry of the country, the government also wants to encourage people to be more eco friendly. In order to do that, the government is going to rebate 10% holding tax for every city building that has a rooftop garden.

It certainly is a commendable initiative by the government and encouraging news for the city dwellers as it will not only save their tax money but will also help make the city greener.

Rooftop farming will undoubtedly support the

environment by improving air quality, reducing

the CO2 level in the atmosphere

Dhaka is one of the most densely populated megacities in the world. With the rapid pace of urbanization in the city, the number of rooftops and space are also increasing here. The 10% tax rebate will encourage people in rooftop farming and can provide a solution to increased food demand. It will help to promote a sustainable and livable city.

However, maintenance of these rooftop gardens can be costly. Many of the city residents do not have proper training on agriculture. Starting gardening without appropriate knowledge may lead to exasperating outcomes and this ultimately might result in unwillingness of the people in initiating new rooftop gardens.

Therefore, along with the tax rebate government can also run some awareness and promotional campaigns to let people know about the benefits of rooftop gardening.

If implemented successfully, the local fresh and safe food can be safeguarded through roof gardens in Dhaka city. Rooftop farming will undoubtedly support the environment by improving air quality, reducing the CO2 level in the atmosphere which ultimately will benefit our society.
