Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed returned to the national team few months ago after showing great performance in the last BPL. But he could not travel to New Zealand with the team due to a back injury. Even after getting selected for the Ireland tour he did not played a match and later also did not make it to the World Cup. Taskin was there when the team went to Sri Lanka tour after the World Cup, but he was again not selected in any of the match. Taskin’s difficult times were not ending. However, in recent times, he again came back to form in the National Cricket League (NCL) ahead of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL). Taskin said, he is trying to revive himself with new ways of approaching the game of cricket. He said he has the urge to do well in the upcoming BPL.

In the NCL, he has taken 17 wickets in the last three matches. He bowled 101 overs. The biggest thing at this point is that the pace is also returning to his bowling. Taskin will be playing for the Rangpur Rangers in the BPL. He is working to enhance his bowling. He is also preparing himself to deal with repeated injuries. After yesterday’s practice, he said he can manage injuries better now than ever before, “I can now manage injuries better than before. I now understand better what my body wants and how can I manage myself. Injuries are a part of life, more in case of the pacers. So I want to remain healthy by remaining disciplined while preparing.”

After not getting a place in the World Cup, Taskin thought his career was over. But now he is putting away that emotion and trying to face the reality bravely, “Now my goal is to play good wherever there is opportunity. I will try to stay healthy, to stay fit. The goal is now to have a good BPL season.  I will try to give my best and play well. My goal is also to get a chance to play for the national team with a good performance. ”

Taskin is not a natural swing bowler, his main weapon is speed and variation. In the previous BPL, he got 6 wickets with knuckle ball. He is also working on to improve his slower and bouncer balls, to enhance his variation.

“It is really important to have all the deliveries in your sleeve in the Twenty20 format as well as managing speed.

I will try to understand the situation, bowl accordingly and meet the needs of my team. That will be the goal for me.”
