Unemployed young people are the prime target of many unscrupulous groups in the country. And when it comes to going abroad the traffickers also target the youths as they can be deceived very easily. As a result, there have been numerous cases where people have vanished through coming in contact with human traffickers who promise of taking the youths abroad for huge sums of money but ultimately deceive them.
According to a report published in this daily, there are strong evidences of many Bangladeshi unemployed youths being tempted to travel to north America and Europe organized by many international groups of human traffickers in return for huge sum of money. This practice has been conveniently termed ‘Tarzan visa’ for ‘legal jobs’ abroad.
Unaware people are still walking the
path of brokers who promise sen to
people abroad via illegal ways
This type of allurement often times is done by organised gangs who have world-wide connections and entrap such youths seeking better future abroad. Despite various issues such as illegal migrants drowning in the Mediterranean, the number of illegal migrants or deaths is not decreasing. Rather unaware these people are still walking the path of brokers who promise of getting people abroad via illegal ways.
This practice needs to be halted as soon as possible. This needs to be a combined effort of the countries where people are migrating to, illegally, and also the authorities of the countries from where people are embarking on this dangerous journey.
These select few countries need to hold bilateral talks and come to a solution to resolve the issue at hand. If need be, the law enforcement organisations of these countries should also unite to root out these international gangs once and for all. As per experts, many victims don’t file any case after being subjected to fraud of human trafficking. If all the victims of fraud file a case under the Human Trafficking Act and if the law enforcement becomes more active, this menace may decrease to a great extent.
