Tarash students get Covid-19 jabs, but hygiene rules flouted

Published : 11 Jan 2022 09:13 PM

Vaccination of students has started in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj to bring 12-17 year old students under corona vaccination in a short time. Vaccination has started in two booths at the office of Tarash Sadar Union Land Office in the upazila on January 8. But students are at risk of contracting the vaccine because of poor hygiene and slowness.

On Tuesday at around 10 am, it was seen that on the same day, 3,042 students of 9 schools of the upazila were scheduled to be vaccinated with corona vaccine in one day. The students started gathering there before the vaccination started in the morning. At the same time, a large number of students gathered and a large crowd of students gathered. This crowd grows even more as parents come with the students. As a large number of students gathered at the same time, there was no opportunity to observe the hygiene rules. The students were making a lot of noise in the crowd. Masks were not seen on the faces of many. As a result, a large number of students have been exposed to the risk of Covid-19 infection. Parents and pedestrians have expressed anger over such mismanagement.

At the same time, guardians said that the decision to vaccinate so many students at the center was not a wise one. Now the opposite students are also at risk of being infected. If the authorities wanted, they could have increased the number of vaccination centers by increasing the number of centers in advance.

A guardian named Raihan Ali said that his son, a seventh grader, came out of the house at 8.30 am to get vaccinated. But in the crowded situation, the tender-hearted students are standing in line for hours. As a result, they are getting physically tired. It would have been better if the school had arranged for the students to be vaccinated. People did not have to suffer. Students also did not have to take risks.

Parents complain that students are being vaccinated against Pfizer. There are a number of rules to follow when applying Pfizer's vaccine. This vaccine cannot be administered without air-conditioned (AC) rooms and generator facilities. But the authorities are not following any rules. Tarash Upazila Health Officer Dr Monwar Hossain said that he visited the vaccination center. He said that he would go to the office and talk about this issue. Tarash Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Fakir Zakir Hossain said, it is possible to have a commotion as the number of students in the upazila is high. But the responsibility lies with the hospital authorities, not on the education department. In addition, the vaccine cannot be administered without air-conditioned (AC) rooms and generator facilities. They are responsible for the way they are giving vaccines.
